wanderBOX Outpost 35 4×4

Exterior WanderBox, wanderBOX, wanderBOX outpost 35 4x4, off-grid camping, camping, overland, overlanding, off-road, off-roading,

The last few years we’ve seen a lot of growth in the full size, luxury overland travel category, so here’s a look at the flagship offering from wanderBOX

RV manufacturer wanderBOX builds a unique new style of 4×4 Class C or “Super-C” motorhome—one designed for extended off-grid camping with an emphasis on comfort and amenities. Think cross between EarthRoamer and Class A RV; capable of getting down maintained dirt roads and over mountain passes without getting stuck, with all the comforts of home, designed from the ground up for boondocking.

Years of camping in other types of campers that didn’t let them boondock in comfort and work remotely while enjoying the outdoors led the company’s founders to start wanderBOX. Early on they decided that three core design objectives would help wanderBOX become the world’s first no compromise off-road, off-grid camper:

  • Capable – tons of solar/electric, water/waste and off-road/off-grid capabilities like no other camper, so you can go farther and stay longer
  • Comfortable – the space and amenities to enjoy camping for extended periods versus the cramped quarters of a Sprinter van or overlander
  • Connected – check email or do a Zoom call if you need to and not have to limit your adventures to where there’s a cell tower or Wi-Fi signal

The wanderBOX Outpost 35 4×4

Hand-built in Mead, Colorado, 30 minutes north of Denver, wanderBOX builds its flagship Outpost 35 4×4 with an emphasis on being Capable, Comfortable and Connected, with a starting price of $399K. Designed with options to meet a wide range of needs, whether you’re a remotely-working professional, sportsman/sports enthusiast or retiree, the Outpost is well equipped to support your outdoor lifestyle.

The living space is a comfortable and practical floor plan outfitted with amenities like a full-size fridge with ice maker, 3-burner induction cooktop, full-size microwave, washer/dryer, trash compactor, large 32×32 shower and vanity with vessel sink. The master suite’s king-sized bed lifts to transform into a full-size desk with dual 32” monitors, and there’s a four-person café bar that slides out from under the cabover queen-sized bed. Starlink® internet service provides at-home internet speeds for work or play, and CZone® touchscreens control and smartly monitor all systems.

Mission accomplished.

Off Grid Trailers – A Moab Adventure

There’s a lot of competition in the off-road trailer market, so we really like seeing a brand that takes the time to get out there and test and understand how their product performs in the backcountry! Here’s a short video by Off Grid Trailers of their trip to Moab after Overland Expo Flagstaff this year.

MOAB MAY 2022:

After a year of design and development we are excited to be able to conduct some real-world testing on our all-new OGT Evolution Series by Fabtech Motorsports independent trailing arm suspension in Moab Utah.

After Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, the Off Grid Trailers team went north to check out Moab, Utah on their way home to Canada. The team was led by Chris Walker with Overland Training Canada and documented by 5 Star Media. The Off Grid Trailers Team consisted of had Duane Leedell, OGT President in his Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 towing a Pando 2.0 teardrop camper trailer, Denny Sexsmith in his Jeep Gladiator Rubicon towing an Expedition 2.0 overland camping trailer, as well as Kory & Chris in a Toyota 4Runner towing a Switchback S overland adventure trailer. Joining the OGT team was J.P and Erin Martin who are OGT Location Ambassadors in San Antonio Texas, driving their Toyota Landcruiser towing an Expedition 2.0 as well as Adam Vass, an OGT Customer and supporter in his Toyota 4Runner towing his Expedition 2.0 on 35-inch tires.

The overlanding journey started bright and early from the KOA Campground in Moab to ensure all batteries were topped off and water tanks were filled. After a quick drive out of town the crew was on their first trail for the day. Day 1 consisted of a few different trails through Moab leading to an epic camp spot overlooking an incredible canyon. Day 2 was another epic day out on some really cool trails with vast landscapes and beautiful views before ending up at the bottom of a canyon for another incredible camp spot. Day 3 was on track for another epic day of trails leading to sand dunes but was unfortunately cut short when we had a catastrophic failure to one of the tow vehicles. While the trip was cut short, Moab did not disappoint. The OGT Team will be back in Moab before long for another epic Off Grid Adventure.
